Crafting, woodcarving and art courses in The Surrey Hills
Welcome to Joy Farms, a friendly creative hub inspired by nature. You will find us in the idyllic countryside of The Surrey Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty near Guildford.
Here, we offer a range of beginner-friendly art and craft experiences (and if you’re a more experienced crafter there’s still plenty to get your teeth into!). Our courses include green wood spoon carving, basket weaving, Botanical art printing, woodturning, floristry, wreath making and more. We’re always open to ideas, too, so if you have your heart set on learning an art or craft that’s not currently on our menu, let us know.
Hands-on craft workshops with a difference
Most of our experiences are run from our workspace on the farm. It’s undercover in an open-sided farm building surrounded by nature, with views of fields and a small copse. We often work around an open fire, which is very useful for boiling the kettle that’s always on the go! Our crafting and art courses are within an hour’s drive of London, 15 minutes from Guildford and Leatherhead and 20 minutes from Dorking.
Leave the hustle and bustle of modern life behind and absorb yourself in a creative experience

We’re adding dates all the time, but below is a flavour of the 2022 calendar so far, or view our Calendar in list view.
“Let your crafting be exactly what you want it to be. You carve for your own sake, not anyone else’s. The principal aim with crafting nowadays is to fulfil the desire of our hands and our soul...
It doesn’t have to be unique and it doesn’t have to be perfect. The most important thing is that it makes you feel good and you find joy in your creative practice."
Quote from the book - Carving Kitchen Tools by Moa Brannstrom Ott
“I really enjoyed spending the day doing something different. I'd thoroughly recommend it.”
