Best easy non alcoholic mulled wine recipe
This is a really easy alcohol-free mulled wine recipe. We served it at our Christmas wreath making workshops and was really popular. Most people are driving, so this is a perfect way to feel Christmas-ie alcohol-free.
Ingredients
Serves 12-15 people depending on size of mug… (see below for quantity calculator)
2 L pomegranate juice
2 L cranberry juice
30 ish cloves
20-25 ish blackberries (optional)… frozen red berries would work.
4 cinnamon sticks (we used mix of normal small cinnamon sticks & some from the Indian spice section)
10-12 star anise
A little grated nutmeg
4-6 cardamon pods
2 oranges sliced
Brown sugar - optional (With the Cranberry juice and Pomegranet juice we used, we didn’t need it)
Instructions
Add all ingredients to a large saucepan and bring to a very low boil on medium-high heat.
Turn heat to low and simmer for 20-30 minutes. If you’ve got more time we leave ours for up to an hour.
Strain, or remove orange slices and spices.
Pour into a punch bowl or jug and add garnish.
Alternative method - you can make it in a Slow Cooker. Add all ingredients to a slow cooker, and cook on low for 1.5 hours, Strain, or remove orange slices and spices. Pour into a mug and add garnish.
P.S We make it the night before and reheat on the open fire in a Petromax Kettle. The original recipe we started with was from MindfulMocktails, they recommend you can keep it for 5 days. They have a useful tool to calculate quantities for the number of people.
If you’ve got guests the next day. We recommend keeping the seived spices and reusing them the next day and topping them up with fresh spices.
